10 years ago when we first heard of this concept, we thought someone had hit their head.
It’s very counter-intuitive. Even the thought of it was grating.
The technology has developed to such an extent that it’s a great option in a lot of cases.
The process is the same as normal washing. That is we have a surfactant that separates the dirt from the substrate and is then removed by rinsing or wiping. We use it all the time in our kitchens spray and wipe.
When we wash using water we use copious amounts because it’s basically free. The waterless car wash has been developed with strong surfactants that will envelop the dirt so that it is easily wiped off without the need for water. The advantage of these materials is that they also contain protectants of various sorts depending on the brand.
These can be UV protection, waxes to repel dirt and water or even antibacterial as with the kitchen spray and wipe.
Waterless car washing is no joke, and it’s here to stay.
